How to: Post Commission to an Account
Before you post a commission to an account, make sure the following is defined in your company:
- Click the
icon, enter Retail Setup, and select the relevant link.
- On the Posting FastTab, select the relevant Bal. Acc. Type and Bal. Acc. No.
- Select the Calculate in Statem. Posting check box (for sales on the POS) and the Calculate in Sales Posting check box (for other sales), if the commission is to be created automatically when the statements are calculated for the POS and when the sales orders are posted.
Note: If you do not select these check boxes, you must the create the commission entries manually.
Every salesperson must receive commission either as a customer or vendor:
- Click the
icon, enter Retail Salesperson List, and select the relevant link.
- Select a line, and click the Manage action, then click Edit to set or change the Account Type setting (select Customer or Vendor).
Every salesperson must be assigned an Account No. to which account the commission will be paid.
Note: There can be different types of salespersons: some are employees of the enterprises they work for and they receive commission as such, while others are self-employed and are therefore seen as vendors.
To post commission to an account
- Click the
icon, enter Commission Sales Periods, and select the relevant link.
- Select a period in the Commission Sales Periods list.
- Enter the posting date for your period, and then select the date into the Posting Date field.
- Close the period by clicking Actions, then Process - End of Period. Now the Closed check box is selected.
- Click Actions, then Process - Create Gen. Journal, and select the relevant data, Journal Template, and Journal Batch ID.
- Select the relevant template and batch. Validate a correct posting date.
- Click OK.
- To find resulting posted commissions, go to the General Journal page. Here you can change the ledger data before posting, if necessary.
Note: General Journal posted entries are marked with the date when they were posted to the account and can therefore not be posted again.
